Returning to my love of photography

After my second daughter was born, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about taking several months off from my photography business but one thing is for sure, it has given me a new perspective.

Years back, my only goal was to document my children's lives the best I could and it developed into something I never expected, my own business. The problem with making a hobby you love into a business, is that sometimes it can feel more like a job than a hobby and I promised myself that I wouldn't  let that happen. In the midst of developing my business, I realized that I had almost stopped documenting my children's lives because I was so busy documenting others.

During my time off, I have focused again on documenting my children's lives and I love the new perspective. I have given up some of my perfectionist tendencies and have been so happy with the results. The lighting doesn't need to be perfect, the scene doesn't need to be perfect and after all this is just EVERYDAY which is never perfect! These are some shots of my little girl playing and they are some of my most cherished. They are not perfect but they show HER and I love them!

and yes…she is ALWAYS this happy. I am one blessed mama!

Another set of sisters

This is the second time that I have photographed this family but now it has grown! You can see the family/maternity session I did with them last year here. We had a great time shooting at an old farmstead on 20 acres. The girls are SO adorable and mom has great style when dressing them. Enjoy!

Sisters

I had a great time photographing these two sisters. They were without a doubt best friends.
