Miracle Babies
A friend asked me to take a few pictures of her identical twin girls as they celebrated their first birthday. The story of their entrance into this world is amazing and truly a miracle. Born at only 28 weeks and weighing 2lbs 8oz each, they defied the odds. Now they are strong and healthy one year olds who are just about to take their first steps. So glad to be able to photograph them on their special day!
Curious Little Boy
I did this session a couple weeks ago and let me tell you it was a hot…hot day! And my oh my how I forgot just how busy one year olds can be. Combine the heat and chasing after this steady little walker and I was a sweaty mess. Pretty embarrassing when you have to use your cardigan as a towel to keep the sweat from clouding your contacts. Haha. Anyway, we had a good time and in typical one year old fashion, he was far more interested in sticks and acorns, than my picture taking :)

Returning to my love of photography
After my second daughter was born, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about taking several months off from my photography business but one thing is for sure, it has given me a new perspective.
Years back, my only goal was to document my children's lives the best I could and it developed into something I never expected, my own business. The problem with making a hobby you love into a business, is that sometimes it can feel more like a job than a hobby and I promised myself that I wouldn't let that happen. In the midst of developing my business, I realized that I had almost stopped documenting my children's lives because I was so busy documenting others.
During my time off, I have focused again on documenting my children's lives and I love the new perspective. I have given up some of my perfectionist tendencies and have been so happy with the results. The lighting doesn't need to be perfect, the scene doesn't need to be perfect and after all this is just EVERYDAY which is never perfect! These are some shots of my little girl playing and they are some of my most cherished. They are not perfect but they show HER and I love them!
and yes…she is ALWAYS this happy. I am one blessed mama!
Another set of sisters
This is the second time that I have photographed this family but now it has grown! You can see the family/maternity session I did with them last year here. We had a great time shooting at an old farmstead on 20 acres. The girls are SO adorable and mom has great style when dressing them. Enjoy!
